Remote Data Management with P5
Manage your data protection remotely during COVID-19
The COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis has seen a sudden surge in employees accessing on-premise and cloud applications from home. In times like these, simple data protection and management from a remote location becomes more important than ever. These helpful resources show you how to easily manage and secure your data with Archiware P5 without physical access to an office.
Protect your data with P5 while self-isolating
While the office is empty and many work from home, we offer some helpful tips on ways to use Archiware P5 for remote data management in these exceptional times. From cloud storage to workstation backup, all of the tips below can be implemented without requiring physical access to your office.
Cloud-based Backup with Archiware P5
For organizations of all sizes, hosting a centralized P5 server in the cloud allows backup of multiple sites/offices back to a secure, centrally managed resource. This provides greater flexibility compared with using a commercial hosted solution. Discover how the P5 server can trigger backups of each remote office location using a technique we call ‘reverse client connection’.
Run P5 on AWS EC2 as central archive server
This guide documents how to deploy an Archiware P5 onto an EC2 Linux instance from the AWS Marketplace. We show you how to configure the P5 software and then install the P5 agent on a remote host outside of AWS, such that data attached to this host can archived.

Calculate Your Cloud Storage Costs
Choosing the best medium for your Backup or Archive isn't easy. There are a lot of points to consider: amount of data, capacity, speed, and - very importantly - the cost involved for buying or renting the required storage space.
To help you get an idea of all factors that need considering, we have created the Archiware Storage Calculator. Simply download the spreadsheet, fill in the anticipated volume of data and get estimated pricing* for tape and cloud storage as well as upload/download times.
