Jobs scheduling and backup levels
Jobs scheduling and backup levels
Solution
When a backup plan with a defined pre and/or post-script is scheduled to run, the plan runs the scripts even when backup-level is set to skip. This behaviour confuses most users but is easily explainable.
The reason for such behaviour is job manager knowing nothing about a job it is scheduling. The job manager schedules all kinds of jobs: backup, archive, synchronize, label, inventory, etc pp. Every job is handled equally:
If there is a pre-script defined, it is run
The job itself is run
If there is a post-script defined, it is run
The job protocol is sent per e-mail
In one of the future PresSTORE releases job manager will be made "aware" of the kind of job it is scheduling and will act accordingly.
