Even if backup media is not exchanged on schedule, P4 Backup creates an additional backup for added security.

This “How-To” describes how to setup a PresSTORE Backup on a RDX standalone removable disk drive.

1. Prepare RDX cartridge(s) for backup
Important: Create the same volume label on all your RDX cartridges. Example Below. Name: RDX

2. Select “Backup” from the top menu and select “Standalone Drive” from side menu.
Please note: You will need to create PresSTORE Labels on each of your RDX cartridges before you can create any backup plans. For information on creating labels on each cartridges, please refer to “Creating Labels on RDX Cartridges”.

Choose the option “New Removable Disk” from the bottom bar.

Select the volume from the left side menu and then the top entry from the list.

Select “Backup” from the top menu and then “Backup Plan” from side menu.

Enter the desired plan name here. Naming must be unique, as no other plan may carry the same name.

3b. Create a new backup task to specify which data to backup

3d. Start the backup manually

Note: To monitor the running backup process select the “Job Monitor” from the top menu´s Job/Logs section.

4. Optional: Creating PresSTORE Labels on each RDX Cartridges

Select “Backup” from the top menu and select “Standalone Drive” from side menu.

Select the same “Disk-Backup” pool which was used by the automatic label process while adding the new removable disk drive in step 2.

5. Optional: Add automatic mount and eject command for the RDX drive
For Mac OS X, use the command “hdiutil” command. e.g.
– hdiutil mount /dev/disk1s2 (to mount the cartridges)
– hdiutil eject /dev/disk1s2 (to eject the cartridges)
