Easy and efficient production workflows from ingest to archiving with Final Cut Server, Xsan and Archiware PresSTORE
In this session you will learn what an Apple based production workflow can look like. Special focus will be the exchange of media as well as meta data from ingest to playout and the information exchange with different media management systems. We will also look at the issue of constantly growing data for live productions, news editing as well as MXF data.
All these topics will be focusing on achieving cost efficiency and simplicity of the production workflow in order to make the work of cutters and editors as easy as possible. Final Cut server is going to be used as the graphical interface. Archiware’s PresSTORE will serve as the much needed back end solution, in order to store data on tape. Once this is installed, it is one of the easiest workflows currently available. |

Workflow with Final Cut, Final Cut Server and Xsan
In this session he will introduce the new Final Cut Studio with its programs Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro and Compressor. Using the production of a commercial as an example, he will present a possible online/ offline workflow of the Final Cut Studio programs in combination with Final Cut Server. The handling of project data with Final Cut Server will be explained in more detail. Additional parts of the workflow will consist of working together on a sequence through iChat Theater, remote checkout of the project in offline resolution and the provision of the final movie directly out of the timeline onto a secure website or the production of a Blue-ray disc. |

Material eXchange Format for Unified Workflows
The standardised and open Material eXchange Format (MXF) allows unified processes in video production, from recording to editing to long-term archiving.
MXF standardisation and independence from manufacturers has the benefit of escaping the ever changing product and manufacturer cycles
and makes it very attractive for long-term archiving. |
