PresSTORE 3.1 - License And Upgrading Notes

Should I upgrade to 3.1 now ?
The 3.1 release includes the new Backup2Go product. This is a completely new module
and customers will need to evaluate and purchase the module if they wish to use it. See
web resources for information about the new product. Existing customers are not
automatically entitled to Backup2Go as part of their support agreement since this is a
new product.

For the Backup, Synchronise and Archive modules, there are some new features which
are detailed below in the section ‘PresSTORE 3.1 – The New Features’ below.

Generally speaking, we would recommend that existing customers upgrade if they
specifically wish to take advantage of one of the new features, or they wish to evaluate
Backup2Go. Otherwise there is no pressing need to upgrade customers from 3.0 to 3.1
unless we specifically recommend it to resolve a technical problem.

How can I upgrade?
Customers can upgrade to 3.1 by downloading the correct installer for their platform from http://www.archiware.com/download and installing. Their existing permanent licenses will work with the new version without requiring any modification.

3.0 installations running on demo licenses
3.1 requires new demo licenses. These demo licenses will be made available to resellers
and partners via the usual channels. Demo installations upgraded from 3.0.x to 3.1.x
will need to have the existing demo license removed and a new one entered.
In some cases we’ve noticed that, after upgrading, it’s not possible to view the old
demo license in order to remove it. An error message is displayed and no license is
visible in the list. The workaround if this happens is to switch to ‘short list view’ in the
‘view’ menu. The previous license can then be deleted.
